Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
