4 of Poker’s Nice Pros
Aug 14th, 2018 by Noelle

Literally millions of people strive to be the next "star" in poker, but here is a short list of 4 of the more well known "charming players" of poker. Although "nice" is associated with their names when you are playing them it is "no more Mr. Nice guy" up until they have put you out of the game!

Daniel Negreanu

In 2004, his competition winnings amounted to in the region of $4.4 million and he won two highly admired awards in the WSOP Player of the Year and Cardplayer Magazine’s Tournament Player of the Year. In Feb 2006 he was chosen Card Player’s Preferred Poker Player. He even still has the humility to talk to his fans about how they will be able to boost their own game.

Howard Lederer

Referred to as "The Professor" and brother of fellow poker professional Annie Duke. His accomplishments have lead to him making an instructional video named "Secrets of No Limit Hold’em" and also holding a tournament poker show for Fox TV. As of Two Thousand and Five, his complete life earnings surpass $2.7 million.

Scotty Nguyen

Scott is one of the most active players in professional poker and between 2000 to 2004 he finished in the money in excess of 100 competitions. He’s noted for saying "yeah baby" throughout poker games and also coined the term "that’s poker baby" when alluding to a especially bad loss. As of 2006, his life time earnings are almost six million dollars.

Chris Ferguson

Chris has won 5 WSOP titles with two of his wins happening in Two Thousand and Three. Chris has the alias "Jesus" as a result of his trademark long hair and beard, and is able to throw playing cards fast enough to slice through bananas and pickles. As of Two Thousand and Five his total poker tourney earnings exceeded five million dollars.

Online Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the closing table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I think television can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
