Terrible Luck in Poker
April 26th, 2010 by Noelle

For a game where the majority of gamblers occasionally consider good luck, there are tons of superstitions in poker. When you say that an individual was fortunate in that poker tournament they captured, be mindful of how you mention it. For instance, if you say that you were unlucky, your luck may not change.

Ok, that may sound a bit strange, but poker is a game armed with folklores. Did you realize that if you’re playing a game with two different decks and you’re asked to pick the deck, you should always select the deck of cards that’s furthest from you? Or, how about If you have a streak of terrible cards, you need to hang out on a hankerchief to destroy your poor luck? It’s actually thought of as good luck to blow through a deck of cards when they are being mixed up.

A few other fascinating poker superstitions are:

  • You might be able to change the run of cards by passing around your chair three times.
  • The luckiest seat at the poker table faces the entrance.
  • The worst position has its back to a fireplace.
  • When shifting chairs, you should always do so clockwise.
  • The unluckiest poker card is the four of clubs.
  • It’s very unfortunate to cross your legs when sitting at the poker table.
  • Fri is a bad day for betting on cards.
  • The 13th is also a terrible day, despite what day of the week it is.
