Ah, the poker tilt. If a poker player states at no time to have peered down the barrel of a looming poker steam – they are either lying or they haven’t been playing for a long time. This does not mean of course that every player has gone on tilt before, a few players have awesome control and take their losses as a loss and leave it at that. To be a great poker player, it is very critical to appraise your successes and your losses in a similar manner – with little emotion. You play the game the same way you did following a hard loss like you would after winning a great hand. Many of the poker masters are not attracted by tilting after a bad loss as they are very experienced and you should be to.
You have to understand that you cannot win each hand you’re in, regardless if you are strongly favored. Hands which usually cause players to go on tilt are hands you were the leading choice or at least believed you were up until you were side swiped and you lost a gigantic chunk of your stack. Awful losses are bound to happen. Embrace that fact right now, I’ll say it once again – if your brother plays cards, if your parents play cards, if your grandpa enjoys cards – They have all had bad losses at some point. It is an unavoidable effect of participating in Hold’em, or in reality any kind of poker.
After all we are assumingly (almost all of us) playing poker for a single reason – to acquire $$$$, it certainly makes sense that we would gamble appropriately to maximize our profit potential. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you suffer a large hit in a No Limits game and your bankroll is down to one hundred and twenty dollars. You’ve squandered $80 in a round where you were assured to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and held a 10 – 1 edge. And that amateur! He bled you dry on the river? – Well stop right here. This is a quintessential choice for a new player to begin tilting. They really just blew too much $$$$ on one round that they should have won and they are pissed
