Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
June 27th, 2017 by Noelle

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the min takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
