Caribbean Poker Codes and Pointers
May 17th, 2018 by Noelle

Web poker has become globally celebrated as of late, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its TV scores. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with vingt-et-un than traditional poker, in that the gamblers wager against the bank rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no bluffing or other types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up before the croupier declares "No more bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course every one of the different gamblers are given five cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must either make a call bet or give up. The call bet’s amount is akin to your original wager, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Abandoning means that your wager goes immediately to the casino. After the wager is the showdown. If the dealer does not have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, with a sum in accordance with the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the casino’s hand. The casino pays money equal to your wager and set odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
