Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
February 27th, 2020 by Noelle

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the closing game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
