Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
