Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
