Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While playing web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
